In ModelSpecific section? - Motioned, seconded, and approved to table this, until Radek is present to explain. Walters 5.1 Resolution Request - Only document 5.1 behavior in 5.1? - Walter proposed, Yes, as a formal resolution. - Walter proposed that a separate document be created, explaining the differences between 5.0 and 5.1. - It was pointed out that this will be the first break from backward compatibility in IBIS history. - Walter noted that AMI default is 5.0, thus protecting the unwary. - It was claimed and defended that certain fundamental flaws in 5.0 force us to break with backward compatibility. - Motioned and seconded that we table the discussion until next week, in the interests of furthering the Jitter BIRD discussion. Jitter BIRD (123): - Greg's latest updated drawing was presented/discussed. - Walter clarified certain recent comments, regarding Tx jitter insertion point. - It was noted that the use of the `USE_INIT_OUTPUT parameter was deprecated in 5.1, thus forcing the AMI_GetWave function to perform both the linear and non-linear portions of the equalization, every time it is called. (Was this wise, from a performance perspective?) - Jitter spectral density vs. amplitude histograms were debated, at length. It was noted that both are really required, in order to completely describe jitter. - The practical example of how to include power rail fluctuations in BER modeling was presented, as an aid in understanding the requirements of jitter specification mechanisms. - Motioned, seconded, and approved that the jitter spectral density discussion be tabled until we get 123 out the door. Resolutions Accepted: - That we wait for Radek before discussing BIRD 127 any further. - That we resume the 5.1 vs. 5.0 discussion, next week, and that we try and have something resolved by the next Open Forum. - That all mention of jitter spectral densities will be tabled for further discussion, until after we've completed BIRD 123, and that the RX_EXT_REF parameter will be removed from BIRD 123, to be included in the future BIRD covering jitter spectral density. ------------- Minutes by David Banas Next meeting: 27 Sep 2011 12:00pm PT Next agenda: 1) Task list item discussions ------------- IBIS Interconnect SPICE Wish List: 1) Simulator directives
